Mountain Ash

With a name like Mountain Ash, one would expect that these trees would only be found growing on the sides of mountains.

Though they can be found on mountainsides, albeit not exclusively, the name Mountain Ash is derived from the colour of the timber which resembles the hue of the great stone mountains in the north.

A dense hardwood, Mountain Ash is as hard as stone with only Gold Oak being harder.

For this reason, Mountain Ash is the timber of choice when strength is the primary requisite for things that need to be made from wood.
