Player movement and locomotion

Introducing WASD Controls!

To elevate the gameplay experience, we have moved away from the old click-to-move input method, aiming to improve both the current gameplay and the future multiplayer experience.

With the new control scheme, your character’s movement is now handled by the WASD keys. Additionally, you can rotate the camera by holding the right mouse button and moving the mouse.

Attacking is done by simply left-clicking, while interacting with objects or picking up items can be accomplished by pressing the E key.

While gamepad usage is supported, it’s important to note that it doesn’t currently control the interface, and the button configurations are subject to change. We highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the new WASD keyboard control scheme for the best and most optimal gameplay experience.

New Key Bindings and Input System!

We are excited to unveil an all-new key binding and input system designed to enhance your gaming experience.

For keyboard users, we have carefully crafted default key bindings that reflect our best efforts in creating a seamless and enjoyable gameplay experience. These defaults are optimized to offer smooth and intuitive controls.

While we have made an initial pass at setting up gamepad defaults, we acknowledge that they may require further adjustments. Rest assured, we are committed to refining and updating the gamepad controls over time to ensure they meet our high standards. Please note that the gamepad currently does not have interface control capabilities, so you may need to rely on the mouse for certain interactions.

You have the freedom to customize key bindings according to your preferences. However, we highly recommend giving the new default settings a try and embracing the new system as intended. We believe you will find that this new system offers a superior and more satisfying gameplay experience. Embracing the changes and learning the new system will allow you to fully appreciate its benefits rather than trying to replicate the previous setup.

Alternative Movement Settings

We understand that not everyone may find WASD or Gamepad controls comfortable, so we’ve implemented a range of alternative options for you to explore.

  • Run Towards Cursor: By holding down this key bind, your character will automatically run towards the position of your cursor. Releasing the button will immediately stop your character’s movement.
  • Run To Cursor: This option functions similarly to the old click-to-move method. If chosen, it is recommended to combine it with the Stop Running To Cursor key bind. One advantage of this setting is that it allows you to separate the actions of attacking and moving. You can click to move your character to a specific location, and while your character runs towards that destination (in straight lines without pathfinding), you can still initiate attacks using your attack key bind.
  • Mouse Virtual Joystick: When activated by holding down a specific key, this option transforms your mouse into a virtual joystick. Moving the mouse in a particular direction mimics pushing the joystick in that corresponding direction.

Enhanced Camera Controls!

We are thrilled to introduce improved camera control options for a more immersive experience. Now, you can effortlessly rotate the camera using your mouse. Simply hold down a designated key and move the mouse to rotate the camera to your desired angle. Alternatively, you can assign a toggle hotkey in the settings and use it to easily switch between camera rotation modes.

Furthermore, we have made adjustments to the camera angle to provide better visibility. We carefully considered both performance and player experience while fine-tuning this aspect, and we will continue to monitor and make necessary adjustments over time to ensure an optimal gaming experience.

Enhanced Camera Controls

Power Attack Removed

The power attack feature has been removed, and now there is only a single attack option available which can be chained together. This attack always consumes Energy.

Initially, the power attack was introduced in the early stages of the game, where its damage output was three times higher than the standard attack. This significant difference in damage posed a challenge in balancing the monsters, as they had to be designed to be defeated by both the standard and power attacks. Managing this balance became difficult due to the varying damage levels.

The majority of players primarily relied on the power attack in most situations, except for rare occasions where they would opt for the standard attack.

To simplify the system, we have unified the attack mechanism into a single button press, where a small amount of energy is consistently consumed for each attack. The unique triple shot arrows that were associated with the bow power attack will make a return in the future through another feature.

Furthermore, chaining your attacks has become a more fluid experience, allowing for a window of opportunity to delay the chain or even change directions during the chain. Additionally, certain weapons now enable you to move while attacking, which proves useful for maneuvering around enemies and showcasing impressive footwork skills!

Revamped Health and Energy Mechanics!

We have made significant adjustments to the Health and Energy systems, bringing about a more balanced gameplay experience.

Firstly, the maximum health has been normalized to align with the Energy system. As you progress and level up, you will gradually unlock higher maximum health values. This change ensures a consistent progression and balance between Health and Energy.

If you have been diligently grinding during our update efforts, chances are you have already unlocked a substantial portion of this progression.

Additionally, we have undertaken a comprehensive overhaul and rework of the Energy requirements to harmonize with the other changes implemented. These adjustments aim to create a seamless and cohesive experience throughout the game.

By fine-tuning the Health and Energy mechanics, we aim to provide a more engaging and satisfying gameplay journey. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue refining and enhancing these systems!

Revamped Aiming System!

We are excited to announce significant updates to the aiming system, specifically for Relics, Weapons, and Bombs. These updates bring a more intuitive and user-friendly aiming experience.

The previous aiming mechanism has been replaced with a new reticle and improved aiming direction, enhancing your precision and accuracy when using these items.

To further refine your aim, we have introduced a small delay after activation. This delay allows you to fine-tune your aim before launching the item or projectile towards the target location. This added feature empowers you with better control and ensures your aim is spot-on for moving targets.

With these aiming system updates, we aim to provide a more seamless and satisfying gameplay experience. Prepare to take aim like never before and witness the improved precision in action!

These encounters may take the form of mini quests or situations where you find yourself trapped until you successfully defeat them. Successfully completing the challenge (some have a time frame) will always grant you a rewarding outcome. However, if you couldn’t quite crack the puzzle or didn’t act swiftly enough, you won’t receive a reward.

To ensure a balanced and engaging experience, rewards will be periodically adjusted as the feature expands. We will carefully evaluate and fine-tune the rewards to offer a satisfying progression as you face new challenges. Stay tuned for updates and embrace the thrill of these unforeseen obstacles!

Exciting Player and Monster Stat Updates!

We have implemented significant changes to player and monster stats, resulting in an enhanced gameplay experience. These updates encompass various aspects, including Player Health, Energy, Damage, as well as Monster Health and Damage.

To complement these changes, we have updated the Champion Rewards system to include some of these changes. As you progress and achieve milestones, you will unlock additional rewards that contribute to your growth as a champion.

It is important to note that these stat adjustments bring new challenges. We strongly advise taking necessary precautions before engaging in battles. Be prepared by equipping yourself with consumables and extra healing items. Some monsters possess formidable strength and can deal significant damage, so it is crucial to adapt your play style accordingly. Avoid engaging multiple monsters simultaneously to prevent overwhelming encounters.

Most monsters exhibit discernible patterns that can be learned and countered. It is advisable to exercise caution and not become overly aggressive with your attacks while you’re still learning. Occasionally, it is prudent to step backwards or sideways to avoid an enemy sword swing to avoid taking unnecessary damage, even if you haven’t completed your combo.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation, consider retreating. Monsters will reset if they stray too far from their initial position (This includes their health!). As a last resort, keep a teleport scroll handy until you become more comfortable with the combat mechanics and monster behaviors.

Embrace these exciting updates, but do so with caution and strategic thinking. Prepare yourself for thrilling encounters and seize the opportunity to become an even more formidable champion!

Expanded Utility for Morphing!

We have introduced exciting enhancements to the Morphing ability, allowing for greater versatility in its usage.

You now have the ability to activate your morph even when enemies are nearby. However, please note that there will be a casting delay associated with morphing. It’s essential to exercise strategic thinking and timing when utilizing this ability, as taking damage while morphed will cause you to revert back to your original form. Plan your morph activation carefully to maximize the effectiveness!

In addition, you can now charge your morph even while engaged in combat. This means you can seamlessly dance around your enemies while building up the power of your morph.

These improvements focus on optimizing the Heads-Up Display (HUD) and decluttering the top area of the screen.

The HUD has undergone a complete revamp, resulting in a more intuitive and visually appealing layout. To streamline the interface, we have introduced a new Character window where certain slots are now conveniently tucked away. This approach aligns with industry standards observed in similar games like Lost Relics, ensuring a familiar and seamless experience for players.

We have fine-tuned the action bar and moved some options to the new Character window. Additionally, we have made the top area of the screen mostly transparent, minimizing the screen space it occupies.

We understand the importance of an unobstructed view during combat, and as such, the top area of the screen will automatically fade away during combat scenarios. However, should you prefer to have it constantly visible, this feature can be disabled in the settings.

To further improve the interface, the icons that were previously arranged along the top have been relocated to the far right of the screen. As these icons are not frequently needed, this repositioning minimizes distractions and optimizes the use of screen space, and they can alternatively be accessed by hotkeys.

Stackable Consumable Items!

In light of the combat and energy changes, we have implemented adjustments to the handling of consumables, specifically in regard to their stacking capabilities.

Recognizing the increased demand for consumables, we have made the decision to allow for stacking, enabling you to carry more of these essential items. While we may not fully comprehend the mystical mechanics behind fitting vast amounts of items into a backpack, let’s imagine your backpack to be as expansive as Mary Poppins’ bag or as infinite as the TARDIS from Doctor Who, albeit with certain limits.

Certain consumables can now be conveniently stacked, allowing for up to two instances of the same item within a single inventory slot. This change aims to accommodate your heightened need for consumables in the face of evolving gameplay dynamics.

We have expanded the information available in tooltips for Resources and Craftable items. These improvements aim to provide you with valuable insights at a glance, offering details on how to effectively utilize an item or where it can be obtained.

When interacting with Resources, you will now find information regarding their purpose and potential applications. This will help you make informed decisions about how to utilize these valuable materials while you’re on your adventures.

For Craftable items, tooltips now offer enhanced information on the crafting process itself. Discover valuable hints on the required resources, materials, or production skill needed to create these items.

By enriching the tooltips, we aim to streamline your gameplay experience, allowing you to quickly access essential information without the need for additional research or guesswork.

Simplified Marketplace Interface!

The ‘Owned’ tab has been seamlessly integrated into the Listings view, now functioning as a filter option rather than a separate tab. This enhancement streamlines the interface, providing a more intuitive and efficient user experience.

With this update, you can easily access listing information for items you already own. By utilizing the filter option, you can quickly navigate through the Marketplace and explore relevant listings specific to your owned items. This consolidation eliminates the need to switch between tabs, allowing for a smoother and more cohesive browsing experience.

New Radial Menus!

These menus will conveniently appear at your mouse cursor when triggered, providing quick and intuitive access to your items. By default, the Radial Menus can be activated using the Ctrl and Alt keys.

Once activated, simply hover over an item icon and release the held button (Ctrl or Alt) to execute the corresponding action. It’s important to note that these Radial Menus are primarily designed for use during your adventures and may not be available while in town.

To ensure optimal usability, the Radial Menus intelligently skip any empty slots, displaying only items that are immediately usable. This means that items on cooldown or already consumed will not appear, allowing you to activate items effortlessly without the need to rearrange your slots.

With the new Stash Layout, you will find a more cohesive and intuitive arrangement that complements the updated Character window. This harmonious design creates a seamless flow between your character’s inventory and the stash, enhancing your overall inventory management experience.

As we continue to reshape aspects of the game, we’re excited to experiment with something fresh for the adventure window. The new Adventure Destination Window offers a revamped experience, accompanied by reworked adventures, monsters, and nodes, all in preparation for exciting future updates.

With the latest changes, your progression through the adventures has been reimagined. When starting out, you’ll need to unlock each rarity by gradually completing adventures. For example, if you’re at level 1, the entire map will be initially locked, and you must first conquer Talmuth to unlock other common adventures. Completing an additional common adventure will unlock uncommon adventures, completing an uncommon adventure will unlock rare adventures, and the pattern continues as you progress through all of the adventures.

Resource nodes have undergone adjustments as well, with XP values aligned accordingly. Rest assured, we have exciting plans for future changes regarding resource drops.

For free players, there are several available adventure locations to embark upon. As you feel ready to tackle more challenging adventures, you can grind for gold within the accessible levels. Collecting gold and trading items for gold on the emporium will enable you to purchase a power pendant from other players, unlocking the benefits of all membership features. Therefore you don’t need to pay anything—you just need to invest your time in grinding for gold.

Alternatively, you have the option to directly purchase a power pendant from the shop, conveniently located in the main menu of the game.

New Monsters and Mechanics!

Monsters have received significant changes that will bring a new level of depth and challenge to your encounters.

Each monster now possesses a level, indicating its power and strength. A Level 10 Bandor will prove to be a formidable opponent compared to a Level 1. The bounties system makes use of this system, so make sure you’re hunting the correct level monsters to complete your bounties.

While the current levels are straightforward, we have plans to introduce randomized and diversified levels in the future, ensuring each encounter feels unique and unpredictable.

Not only have monsters received level updates, but they’ve also undergone visual enhancements. Prepare to be amazed by their improved graphical details, making your battles all the more immersive. Additionally, their skills, movement patterns, health, and damage have all been revamped to provide more dynamic and engaging gameplay.

However, we have a somber announcement to make. Due to an overwhelming hunting spree, the Ogum species has been hunted into extinction. As a result, the Fragmented Ogum Claw, which was once a prized drop, is no longer obtainable. But fear not! In the upcoming update, we will introduce a new mechanic that utilizes this broken claw, offering a chance to transform it into a valuable object with unique utility. Stay tuned for this exciting addition!

Updated Bounty System!

In response to the recent changes and updates, we have implemented an updated Bounty system too. While it does not fully embody our final vision, we have made necessary adjustments and will continue shaping it to align with our ultimate goals over time.

Gone are the days of weekly bounties. Instead, we present you with an exciting new approach. You will now come across Beast Bounty scrolls during your adventures or through other means. Once you read these scrolls, they will be added to your Goals window, providing you with specific monster hunting objectives and enticing rewards.

One significant change is that bounties no longer have an expiration date. They are now always active, allowing you to focus on completing them at your own pace. Additionally, the need to pause bounties has been eliminated, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted experience. However, please note that you can have a maximum of 5 active bounties at any given time.

While this updated Bounty system may differ from our ultimate vision, we are committed to refining and expanding it to better align with your expectations. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards creating the most engaging and rewarding gameplay experience possible.

When it comes to claiming your hard-earned rewards for the bounty bucks you’ve accumulated, Berinon remains the go-to person in Lunaria. However, we’re excited to announce that his shop has undergone a visual overhaul to align with the fresh look and feel of our recent updates.

Now, as you step into Berinon’s shop, you’ll be greeted by a refreshed and polished interface that complements the other exciting updates we’ve introduced. The new look aims to enhance your interaction with the Bounty Exchange, making it more enjoyable and seamless than ever before.

  • Minimap: The Minimap is now permanently positioned in the lower center of your screen, ensuring easy access to crucial information at all times. Fixed features, such as landmarks and important locations, will continue to appear on the Minimap, helping you orient yourself within the game world. However, entities like Monsters will no longer be displayed on the Minimap. This change adds an element of surprise and keeps you on your toes, ensuring that you stay vigilant and fully engaged in your surroundings.

  • Full Map: The Full map has undergone significant improvements to provide you with a more interactive and comprehensive view of the game world. Items Renamed

As a result of the recent changes to the monsters, we have renamed certain items that were previously obtained from them. The revised names are as follows:

  • Grunt Gizzard is now referred to as Gizzards.
  • Grunt Meat has been renamed as Hock.
  • Vampleather has undergone a transformation into Ripjawleather, along with all other Vamp-related wares.
  • Ogum Heart has been rebranded as Drondor Heart, along with all other Ogum-related wares.

In light of technical adjustments made to the game, we have modified both the effects and names of certain items. However, we acknowledge that the updated effects may not align with their original names or lore. Rest assured, we will continue to enhance these items in the game as we progress.

  • Tainted Mellithian has transformed into the Amulet of Magnetism, which now pulls nearby targets towards the wearer.

New Effects for Existing Items

In light of all these changes, we have realized that certain existing items were no longer providing useful effects. Therefore, we have updated these items with new effects to ensure their relevance.

Optimizations And Performance Improvements

In this update, we have implemented extensive optimizations for improved CPU and GPU utilization. As a result, players can expect a significant performance boost, with an average increase of 150-200%. However, please note that the extent of performance improvements may vary based on the age and compatibility of your hardware with our recommended specifications, as older GPUs may not support all features and be unable to benefit from the improvements.

For those who previously experienced high GPU usage, you should now notice a substantial decrease, with GPU utilization dropping from 90% to 25%. This means that your GPU fan should rarely activate, and you’ll be able to achieve higher frame rates. It is advisable to set a frame rate limit of 60 or 30 if your machine falls below the recommended specifications, as selecting unlimited frames will utilize your hardware to its maximum capacity, potentially reaching close to 100% usage.

These optimizations were achieved by minimizing the amount of data sent to the GPU for rendering, allowing for CPU cycles to optimize the process before transferring it to the GPU. Additionally, we have dedicated significant time to optimizing various subsystems, further enhancing overall performance without compromising graphical fidelity.

In the event that your machine struggles to meet the performance requirements, you have the option to adjust the graphics quality in the settings. However, please note that lowering the settings introduces limits on the view angle and distance and will affect the level of visual detail. We recommend reducing the settings only if necessary to maintain optimal performance, as doing so has an impact on your overall gameplay experience.

With this update, the default options have been fine-tuned to provide the best performance on most commonly used systems. Therefore, we recommend keeping the default settings for an optimal and enjoyable gaming experience.

By removing the option to practice in a safe environment, we encourage a cautious approach as you venture into the challenging gameplay.

Account Activations

Account activations for free accounts are currently placed in a queue, and we activate them at our discretion over time. We are working on speeding up this process in upcoming updates, but there is currently a significant backlog of accounts waiting for activation.

In the future, we aim to eliminate the need for a queue altogether, allowing anyone to sign up and play immediately. However, for now, we have received numerous requests from players who are willing to make purchases in the shop to bypass the queue. In response to these requests, we have decided to allow players to buy Luneri from the shop, which will activate their accounts instantly.

It is important to note that purchasing Luneri does not require you to spend it immediately. You can choose to save it for later use. However, if you prefer, you can visit the shop on the game’s main menu and use your Luneri to purchase various items such as Outfits, Pets, Morphs, and Power Pendants.

  • Morphs are useful in more situations now but have a delay when casting.
  • Gameplay interface has been revised, only major slots shown, majority of inventory moved to new Character window (Default Key: Tab)
  • Relic and Inventory Radial Menus have been added and appear at your mouse cursor position. (Default Keys: Ctrl or Alt)
  • Stash layout has been updated to reflect new Character window.
  • New Unforeseen Challenges added, with more to come in the future!
  • Available adventures, monsters and nodes have been reworked in preparation for future updates, and new experimental Adventure map replaces the previous list.
